Lightcycle Metro
This project is a technical exploration of seamless VFX integration within a real-world architectural environment. The scene features a high-fidelity 3D Lightcycle from the Tron universe, integrated into the vaulted, marble-textured environment of a metro station.
Key Technical Highlights:
- Matchmoving & Tracking: Achieved a stable camera track in a environment with long perspectives and repetitive geometric patterns to ensure perfect alignment of the 3D assets.
- Lighting & Shading: Developed custom emissive shaders for the Lightcycles to act as primary light sources within the scene. A major focus was placed on creating physically accurate reflections on the polished marble floors and walls.
- Environmental Interaction: Utilized shadow catchers and reflection planes to ground the CG vehicle naturally into the physical space, ensuring the neon glow interacts correctly with the station's architecture.
- Compositing: The final stages involved color grading, adding motion blur, and adjusting light bloom to match the camera's original plate, resulting in a cohesive cinematic look.
Software used: Blender, After Effects.
